What is the difference between simultaneous and sequential summation of force




















Speedy, but lower force movements, such as throwing a baseball, tend to be sequential. In reality, inexperienced girls or boys will display this same pattern.

In the squat and the deadlift, the knees and the hips both tend to extend at once. Tend, because not everyone is the same and some people display different movement patterns. You may see someone extending their knees first and then their hips, for instance. This is often true of the novice, which makes sense in terms of motor learning.

But even some experienced lifters may use such a method. It is very hard to determine but it is safe to say, I think, that most of us must extend forcefully at all the involved joints in order to muster our highest force. Both simultaneous and parallel events occur at different places. Unlike combinational logic, sequential circuits have state, which means basically, sequential circuits have memory. Combinational logic circuits implement Boolean functions, so they are functions only of their inputs, and are not based on clocks.

The difference between recount and retell is the method in which they were heard. Retelling involves describing something that was said. Recounting involves describing something in sequential order that was read. Sequential is a list of events in the order in which they occurred without the recording of time.

Chronological is a list of timed events in the order in which they occurred and placed on a timeline. Explain the difference between sequential and direct file access.

Sequential access to data is used when the data has to be read from the start, in sequence. It is the normal method of access for magnetic tape. Direct access is used when it is possible to jump directly to a file or data item without reading through all the items stored before it.

This is the normal method used for hard disks. The main difference between sequential circuits and combinational circuits is that sequential circuits compute their output based on input and state, and that the state is updated based on a clock.

A combinational circuit's output depends only on its current inputs. This means, it has a truth table. A sequential circuit's output depends on its previous inputs. This means, it's output will depend on which state it is. You can be as creative as you want with these movements, and they can be as ballistic as what occurs in your actual sport discipline. Using medicine balls also emphasizes a concept that is huge in my system: training toenails to fingernails. When starting on the feet, heaving and pressing movements emphasize this concept.

Basically it all comes back to the summation of forces and proper firing of the muscles and limbs associated with the movement you are performing. It starts at the feet and finishes when the ball leaves the fingers. So exactly how do I use medicine balls each week in our training? With football players, I often explain that heaving can be considered a defensive day because the movements are similar to tackling.

A pressing day can be considered an offensive day because it emphasizes movements like stiff arms and blocking. Regardless of the day, the order of the session is the following:. When we train team sport athletes, we warm up, perform our sprinting, follow the sprinting session with our multi-throws, and then hit the weight room.

Some of you may have seen me present on the traditional system I use. In that system, we have base, volume, unload, and performance weeks.

A base week has six of each throwing movement, volume week has eight of each throwing movement, unload week has two of each movement, and performance week has four of each movement. We also have distinct unilateral movements.

GTB takes place on both days of multi-throws during the week, and depending on the season, are rotated in and out every four to six weeks with heaving and pressing. As we start to get to the end of the season, I begin to incorporate throws with hurdle hops, box jumps, and degree jumps.

I use the single leg heave for height and the single leg squat and throw for specific ballistic hamstring work during a weight room session. Toward the end of the season, we begin to incorporate medicine balls in our core work during a weight room session. We want to be fast and explosive at the end of the season, so everything we do emphasizes speed and explosion. The best way to do this for the core is to use medicine balls. Once again, they are light enough to stress constant acceleration and can be used in all three planes of movement.
